Rutland and the West
This Rutland Historical Society Quarterly defines several of the elements of western culture from geography to native inhabitants and western heroes. The theme of this issue was Rutland's Wild West Show parade at the turn of the twentieth century. Multiple appearances from western stars such as Buffalo Bill, Annie Oakley, and Dorothy Gish help shape Rutland's fascination with cowboys, Indians, railroads, and other signature aspects of western culture. Also included are book reviews, letters, maps and pictures that display of Rutland's romance with the frontier.
